29 CFR  1926.850(a): Prior to permitting employees to start demolition operations on a garage structure, an engineering survey was not made, by a competent person, of the  garage structure to determine the condition of the framing, floors, and walls, and possibility of unplanned collapse of any portion of the structure. The employer did not  have in writing evidence that such a survey has been performed:  47 N. Quigismond Ave., Shrewsbury, MA: On or about November 2, 2022, prior to demolition operations involving  the garage structure at the site, the employer did not have an engineering survey performed by a competent person.  Additionally, the employer had no evidence in writing that a survey had been performed at the site.  Specific abatement documentation that this violation has been corrected must be provided within 10 days of the abatement in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19 (d)(1).

29 CFR  1926.854(b):A wall section, which was more than one story in height, was permitted to stand alone without lateral bracing:  47 N Quigismond Ave., Shrewsbury, MA: On or about November 2, 2022, the employer allowed a (12 foot 7 inch by 20 feet )wall section of masonry block to stand alone without lateral bracing during demolition activities involving the roof which was holding the walls upright.  Specific abatement documentation that this violation has been corrected must be provided within 10 days of the abatement in accordance with 29CFR1903.19 (d) (1).
