29 CFR 1910.37(a)(4): Safeguard(s) designed to protect employees during an emergency (e.g., sprinkler systems, alarm systems, fire doors, exit lighting), were not in proper working order at all times:     a) 401 Ogletown Road, Newark DE 19711 (Postmaster Office Hallway): On or about November 29, 2022, CSHO observed emergency exit hazards related to emergency evacuation of the building including but not limited to the exit sign in the Postmaster office hallway leading to the exit access was not illuminated to ensure visibility in the event of an emergency evacuation.

29 CFR 1910.36(d)(1): Employee(s) were not able to open an exit route door from the inside at all times without keys, tools, or special knowledge:  a) 401 Ogletown Road, Newark DE 19711: On or about November 29, 2022, CSHO observed key operated dead bolt locks attached to exit doors. These locks expose employees to fire hazards.   b) 401 Ogletown Road, Newark DE 19711: On or about November 29, 2022, CSHO observed a magnetic lock system attached to exit doors. The doors are locked by a magnet that requires special knowledge to exit.  This system exposes employees to delayed egress and fire hazards.  The (U.S. Postal Service) was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard (29 CFR 1910.36(d)(1)), which was contained in OSHA inspection number_1328027_ citation number_1 , item number_1_ and was affirmed as a final order on (5-7-2019), with respect to a workplace located at_560 Huyler Street South Hackensack New Jersey, 07606_.

The U. S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1297911, citation number 1, item number 1b, and was affirmed as a final order on May 11, 2018, with respect to a workplace located at 751 Palisades Avenue in Teaneck, New Jersey.  The U. S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1295472, citation number 1, item number 1a, and was affirmed as a final order on May 11, 2018, with respect to a workplace located at 4600 Aldine Bender Rd. in North Houston, Texas.
