29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: On or about October 28, 2022, the employer failed to ensure that some form of effective guarding was being utilized on the Rolling Mills (U and G), to protect employees from hazards such as but not limited to the moving parts, caught in-between, pinch, and/or in going nip points. Employees were exposed to additional parts, including sets of moving wheels, as the wire is fed through the rolling mills. This employer was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1498515, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on December 10, 2020, with respect to a workplace located at 30000 Solon Rd., Solon, Ohio 44139.
