Employees are allowed to eat and drink in a break area on J/K line in the Flat Top/End of Line section across from truck startup, creating an ingestion hazard of chromium, iron, and manganese. The employer did not provide a break area free from toxic chemicals to eat, drink, and rest due to poor housekeeping practices, with gross accumulations of dirt and dust at the tables provided for breaks.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: At the worksite located at 8121 US Highway 69 Kansas City, MO 64119: Employees were exposed to chemical inhalation, ingestion, and dermal hazards. Employees are not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in the work area located in the J/K aisle from the fuel fill area up the line to the end of line/drive off area. Chemicals used in the area include but are not limited to washer fluid, antifreeze, gasoline, coolant, and a remediating agent used for gas spills. Effective information and training were also not provided for known chemical hazards of the manufacturing process, including the production of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide from combustion reactions due to starting the engines of the truck.
