29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2): A stairway, ladder, ramp or other safe means of egress was not located in trench excavations that were 4 feet (1.22m) or more in depth so as to require no more than 25 feet (7.62m) of lateral travel for employees: On January 6, 2023, employees of Courtney Construction LLC were installing 6-inch water pipes in a trench measuring approximately 85 feet long, 10 feet wide, and 6 feet deep at a jobsite located at 11 Mennemeyer Road, Troy, Missouri. The employer did not provide or ensure that a ladder or other safe means of egress was available within 25 feet of lateral travel for employees working in the excavation.
