29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1):Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system:  a) Bennet and Pacific Ave, Wildwood, NJ - The employer allowed workers to work in an trench, approximately 6 feet deep, 20 feet long and 4 feet wide in Type-C Soil (approximately 97% sand/gravel), with no trench protection system in place for the workers working in a trench thus exposing the employees to cave-in hazards. This condition was observed on or about January 12, 2023.  NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
