On or about January 17, 2023, employees engaged in decking work without fall protection were exposed to unprotected fall hazards of approximately 10-feet to the ground below.

29 CFR 1926.503(a)(1): The employer did not provide a training program for each employee potentially exposed to fall hazards to enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards. On or about January 17, 2023, at the construction site, the employer did not develop or provide fall protection training to the employees engaged in decking work to recognize and eliminate fall hazards when working over 6 feet and utilizing extension ladders.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed. On or about January 17, 2023, employees using an extension ladder that did not have the side rails extended three feet over the upper landing surface were exposed to potential fall hazards greater than six feet.
