29 CFR 1910.22(a)(1): All places of employment, passageways, storerooms, service rooms, and walking-working surfaces were not kept in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition.  (a) On or about February 9, 2023, wood dust accumulation in the saw garage at  Caledonia Crating & Palleting , Inc. was not regularly cleaned up,  exposing employees to fire and combustion hazards, and inhalation of toxic chemical hazards.   Exterior surfaces of the band saw cut off machine, the resaw machine, areas around the saws, and the walls of the saw garage were covered with an adequate layer of wood dust  to facilitate ignition when sparks are created as a result of metal on metal contact that occurs when the saws cut through metal such as nails and staples.

Employees were clearing jammed nails and making adjustments to the Viking Pallet Making Machine.
