29 CFR 1910.304(b)(4)(ii)(B): Where connected to a branch circuit supplying two or more receptacles or outlets, a receptacle supplied a total cord- and plug-connected load in excess of the maximum specified in Table S-4: A) In the break room of the postal facility, there was a power strip with 15 amp outlets that was plugged into a 15 amp wall outlet that ran on a 20 amp branch circuit. There was a 1500 watt (12.5) amp microwave oven and a 1000 watt (8.3 amp) coffee maker plugged into the power strip, potentially running a 20.8 amp load through outlets that were rated for a maximum of 15 amps. This could result in overheating of the fixtures and cause a fire.

29 CFR 1910.305(c)(4): Faceplates for flush-mounted snap switches. Snap switches mounted in boxes did not have a faceplate installed so as to completely cover the opening and seat against the finished surface. A) In the entry to the loading dock of the postal facility there was an electrical fixture box that had 4 switches. The corner of the faceplate was broken exposing the inner electrical components. This could result in and contamination or deterioration of the wiring, which can cause fire.
