29 CFR 1910.1053(h)(1):Housekeeping. (1) The employer allowed dry sweeping or dry brushing where such activity could contribute to employee exposure to respirable crystalline silica unless wet sweeping, HEPA-filtered vacuuming or other methods that minimize the likelihood of exposure are not feasible. On or about February 15, 2023, employees were exposed to respirable crystalline silica while dry sweeping to drag dust from hard to reach places in the foam line mixing room and the dust collection room. Employees use a broom to sweep silica dust out of hard to reach places and then vacuum it or use a dust pan to collect it. Abatement documentation is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
