29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a) 228 Wanaque Ave, Pompton Lakes, NJ: The employer did not provide employees with machine guarding to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards created at the point of operation, the blade guard was not adjusted to minimize employee's exposure to the blade. An employee suffered an amputation to his left index fingertip while cutting a ceramic fiber insulation board using a fitting saw on or around February 14, 2023. Solar Products Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1557786, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on April 5, 2022, with respect to a workplace located at 228 Wanaque Avenue, Pompton Lakes NJ,07442.

29 CFR 1910.134(c)(1):In any workplace where respirators are necessary to protect the health of the employee or whenever respirators are required by the employer, the employer shall establish and implement a written respiratory protection program with worksite-specific procedures. The program shall be updated as necessary to reflect those changes in workplace conditions that affect respirator use. The employer shall include in the program the following provisions of this section, as applicable: a) 228 Wanaque Ave, Pompton Lakes, NJ- Board Room: Employees are required to wear N95 masks while cutting ceramic fiber insulation board using a fitting saw. The employer did not establish and implement a written respiratory protection program with worksite-specific procedures on or around February 14, 2023.
