OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees.  Employees engaged in automotive repair activities at Nebraskaland Tire & Service, located at 709 Broadway, Scottsbluff, Nebraska 69361, and were exposed to struck-by, caught-by, and crush hazards.  This most recently occurred when  employees were directed to use improperly operating vehicle lifts missing vital components, with hand tools placement into the lift's mechanical components to to maintain operation.  FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHODs TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD INCLUDE:  A. Lift inspections by trained and qualified personnel. Training is outlined in Section 6.2.4 of ANSI/ALI ALOIM: 2020. Owner's manual for the lift states that the inspections means, methods, and intervals are to be followed in accordance with the applicable ANSI standards. The Rotary, SPO12 Installation Instructions manual also refers to the ANSI/ALI ALOIM consensus standard regarding inspections.   B. Replacement of deficient/broken/non-operational components to ensure proper operation, in conjunction with the inspections of the lift.
