29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11):"Steep roofs." Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. (a) On February 28, 2023, located throughout a commercial roof, employees were exposed to a fall hazard removing shingles from a steep pitch roof while not utilizing any fall protection system. Potential fall height was measured at 13'-5"' with a roof pitch of 10/12.

29 CFR 1926.502(a)(2): Employers shall provide and install all fall protection systems required by this subpart for an employee, and shall comply with all other pertinent requirements of this subpart before that employee begins the work that necessitates the fall protection. (A) Guardrail systems; (B) Safety net systems; or (C) Personal fall protection systems, such as personal fall arrest, travel restraint, or positioning systems. (a) On February 28, 2023, located throughout a commercial roof, employees were exposed to a fall hazard removing shingles from a steep pitch roof and the employer failed to install a fall protection system before the employee performed the roofing work. Potential fall height was measured 13'-5"' with a roof pitch of 10/12.
