29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. Located in the material treatment room, centrifugal working tubs on the Spaleck machines were not guarded. Employees are exposed to rotating parts hazards from spinning media.

29 CFR 1910.303(g)(1):Sufficient access and working space was not provided and maintained about all electric equipment (operating at 600 volts, nominal, or less to ground) to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance of such equipment. Located in the second floor hallway next to the washing machine, a 30 amp 600 volt safety shutoff switch powering an industrial washing machine was obstructed by a large blue wheeled laundry cart, exposing employees to an electrical hazard that could result in electric shock.
