1926.651(j)(1) Adequate protection was not provided to protect employees from loose rock or soil that could pose a hazard by falling or rolling from an excavation face: (a) Jobsite: On or about April 11, 2023, two employees were working in a trench box which on one end did not have a protective barrier to protect employees from the potential hazard of falling loose rock. Although there was no evidence of a current hazard of falling rock or material, upon OSHA?s request, the employer placed a protective barricade at the one end, prior to any employees reentering the trench box.
