OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees On or about April 14, 2023: Employees engaged in truck and trailer coupling at the Darling Ingredients facility located at 1547 County Road 13, Wahoo, Nebraska were exposed to struck-by hazards related to employee interaction with trucks in operation. FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHODS TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 1) Implement a policy which forbids employees from interacting with trucks in operation if they are not the operator of the vehicle. 2) Ensure all employees who interact with the shag trucks are trained before they are operating or interacting with the trucks. 3) Implement a spotter role in the scenario which a trailer is already in the bay as well as continue the use of a spotter in other scenarios. 4) Install clear warning signs, barriers, or floor markings to indicate which areas are hazardous for employee to be in when shag trucks are in operation.
