This violation was most recently observed on or about April 19, 2023 at 6461 and 6469 Pine Bluff Ave NE, Canton Ohio 44721, where eight employees were not protected from struck by/flying debris hazards while installing roofing material with air driven/power driven nail guns. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure that its employees performing roofing work are protected from struck by/flying debris, and that no employee is allowed to install/utilize roofing material while utilizing air driven/power driven nail guns without adequate eye/face protection.

This violation was most recently observed on or about April 19, 2023 at 6461 and 6469 Pine Bluff Ave NE, Canton Ohio 44721, where seven employees were not protected from fall hazards of 22 feet to the ground. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure that its employees performing roofing work are protected from falls, and that no employee is allowed onto a roof 6 feet or more above lower levels without adequate fall protection.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1):Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: On or about April 19, 2023 at the job site located at 6461 Pine Bluff Ave NE, Canton Ohio 44721; during the installation of roofing material on a residential roof, the employer did not ensure that employees utilized portable ladders that were extended 3 feet above the upper landing surface. The employees utilized the ladder for access/egress to and from the roof while installing roofing material. The crew lead/foreman was on site and utilized the portable ladder of for access/egress. JMH Roofing LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1) Ladders, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1479647 citation number 2, item number 2, and was affirmed as a final order on 8/3/20, with respect to a workplace located at 8774 Mottle Reserve DR, Sagamore Hills, Ohio 44067.
