29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer did not instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his/her environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury: a) Worksite, 579 Troy-Schenectady Rd 101 Ste A, Latham, NY 12110: On or about 04/20/2023, employees were directed to use a Hilti DSH gas cut-off saw to cut and remove a metal roof sign structure from the roof of a commercial building. Sparks from the cut-off saw ignited the roofing material causing a roof fire. The employer did not instruct employees on the hazard of cutting metal on a combustible roof surface.

Sparks from the cut-off saw ignited the roofing material causing a small roof fire. The employer did not develop a fire protection program for the demolition of the metal roof sign structure.
