29 CFR  1910.179(b)(2):Overhead and gantry cranes, constructed and installed on or after August 31, 1971, did not meet the design specifications of the American National Standard Safety Code for Overhead and Gantry Cranes, ANSI B30.2.0-1967 which is  incorporated by reference as specified in � 1910.6:  (a) On or about May 2, 2023, and at times prior thereto at 2141 2nd Ave SW, employees operated overhead cranes (Cranes: #2, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #9, #10, #11, #12 - Hoist Serial#088584/018, #13, #14-Hoist Series# 086014/005 and P-2101-B ) that did not have warning sounds when they were used to lift  and  maneuvering steel framing and pre-engineering metal building components while exposing employees to struck-by hazards during the process. This exposed employees to struck-by and/or crushed by hazards in that the crane may be damaged internally, which may not be identified by a daily visible pre-use inspection. Without an official load test, the crane may fail resulting in a load drop. (p) Building - On or about May 2, 2023, and at times prior thereto, the employer did not have any documentation or proof of a rated load test of the crane (Crane: P-12103 - Hoist Serial# 163975). This exposed employees to struck-by and/or crushed by hazards in that the crane may be damaged internally, which may not be identified by a daily visible pre-use inspection. Without an official load test, the crane may fail resulting in a load drop. 29 CFR  1910.179(l)(3)(iii)(d):Pendant control stations were not kept clean, and/or their function labels were not kept legible:  (a) At the workplace, in the fabrication area, a 5-ton (P-13559.A) overhead crane have remote operated pendant control with a button not clearly legible to identify the functions, thereby exposing employees to a struck-by hazard.  Employees use the remote operated pendant control to move the overhead crane on a daily basis transferring Iron girders, I-beams and Channel iron during process operation.  (b) At the workplace, in the fabrication area, a 10-ton (Crane# 5) overhead crane have remote operated pendant control with a button not clearly legible to identify the functions, thereby exposing employees to a struck-by hazard.  Employees use the remote operated pendant control to move the overhead crane on a daily basis transferring Iron girders, I-beams and Channel iron during process operation.
