29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: On or About: May 11, 2023 Location: 212 Old Short Hills Rd., Short Hills, NJ 07078 a) Employees accessed a roof approximately 20-feet from the ground below from a 28-foot Werner extension ladder whose side rails extended approximate 2-feet above the roof, an upper landing surface. The ladder was not secured at its top to a rigid support surface that will not deflect.
