29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. Instance #1 Milford: On or about May 7, 2023, an employee disassembling a carnival ride was not protected from falling approximately 16 feet, 5 inches to the ground by the use of guardrails, personal fall arrest systems, or other equivalent means. Instance #2 Shelton: On or about May 10, 2023, employees assembling a carnival ride were not protected from falling approximately 35 feet, 5 inches to the ground by the use of guardrails, personal fall arrest systems, or other equivalent means. The Coleman Brothers Shows, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA Inspection #1314380, Citation 1, Item 1a and was affirmed as a Final Order on October 1, 2018, with respect to a workplace located at 1201 Boston Post Road, MILFORD, CT.
