29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1):Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c): (a) Jobsite: On or about May 11, 2023, two employees were not protected from a sidewall cave-in while they were working in an approximately 8 1/2 foot deep trench that had near vertical sidewalls and was about 4 feet in width. The company was replacing a residential sewage line. In addition, no soil tests were conducted to determine the Class of soil that the company was working with.
