29 CFR  1910.252(b)(2)(iii): Workers and other persons adjacent to the welding area were not protected from the rays by noncombustible or flameproof screens or shields.  a) On May 16, 2023, Elgin Sweeper company did not ensure that welding curtains or other shielding materials were used around all workstations during welding operations to protect adjacent employees.   Elgin Sweeper Company was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.252(b)(2)(iii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1632219, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on April 6, 2023, with respect to a workplace located at 1300 W. Bartlett Road in Elgin, IL 60120.  No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.

29 CFR  1910.134(e)(1): The employer did not provide a medical evaluation to determine the employee's ability to use a respirator, before the employee was fit tested or required to use the respirator in the workplace.  a) On May 16, 2023, Elgin Sweeper Company did not provide medical evaluations to determine employee's ability to wear a loose fitting supplied air respirator (SAR) before it was used to powder coat along the Batch System. Employees were required to wear a 17-115-13 RPB T-Link SAR with a climate control device when powder coating.   No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.

29 CFR  1910.1200(f)(6)(ii): Except as provided in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(7) and 29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(8), the employer did not ensure that each container of hazardous chemicals in the workplace was labeled, tagged or marked with the product identifier and words, pictures, symbols, or combination thereof, which provide at least general information regarding the hazards of the chemicals and which, in conjunction with the other information immediately available to employees under the hazard communication program, would provide employees with the specific information regarding the physical and health hazards of the hazardous chemical.  a) On May 16, 2023, Elgin Sweeper Company did not ensure that each container of classified hazardous chemicals was labeled, tagged or marked with the required information. Employees were exposed to chemicals including, but not limited to, titanium dioxide and barium sulfate when powder coating on the Batch System.   No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
