29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) On or about February 15, 2023, the employer did not ensure the retractable stoppers on the Cloud line were guarded to prevent caught in or caught between hazards and crushing injuries. Employees were required to removed non-conforming packaging from the line by hand and were in close proximity to the stoppers when they extended and retracted automatically. No abatement is required for this item.
