29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A): Flexible cords and/or cables were used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure: Employees are exposed to electrical and fire hazards. Employees engaged in retail activities at 711 West 23rd Street Lawrence, Kansas, were exposed to electrical shock and fire hazards. Flexible cords supplying 120 VAC power to the overhead lights were used in lieu of permanent wiring in the following locations: a) Open sign in front window of store, was plugged into an extension cord, then a power strip. b) Outdoor lights on the retail floor being used inside plugged into 2 connected extension cords to wall outlet. c) back of retail floor 2 sets of outdoor lights being used inside had multiple extension cords to wall.
