OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were not protected from thermal hazards while performing servicing on ladles that contained molten metal. On or about June 8, 2023, and at times prior to, employees removing a plug assembly from an enclosed ductile iron ladle did not have procedures to verify the safe condition of the ladle or control stored thermal energy, exposing employees to thermal hazards.
