29 CFR 1904.39(a)(2): The employer did not report within 24-hours a work-related incident resulting in in-patient hospitalization, amputation or the loss of an eye. (a) GOVANS - Post Office - On or about June 2, 2023, an employee suffered a heat related injury while delivering mail and the employer did not report this hospitalization to OSHA until June 6, 2023. The U.S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 1904.39(a)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1578894, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on August 10, 2022, with respect to a workplace located at 600 N Neil Street Champaign, IL 61820. No abatement certification or documentation required for this item.

29 CFR 1904.40(a): The employer did not provide an authorized government representative the records within the four business hours. (a) GOVANS - Post Office - On June 12, 2023 at 1:40pm, the compliance safety and health officer (CSHO) requested copies of the OSHA injury and illness records for calendar years 2020, 2021, and 2022 from the employer. On June 13, 2023, the employer supplied the 2020 OSHA 300 and 2020 OSHA 301 recordkeeping forms at 12:03 pm, approximately 1 hour and 23 minutes late, and the 2022 300A, 2021 300A, and 2020 300A recordkeeping forms at 3:02 pm, approximately 3 hours and 22 minutes late. The U.S. Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1904.40(a), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1603593, citation number 1, item number1, and was affirmed as a final order on September 30, 2022, with respect to a workplace located at 103 East Washington Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176. No abatement certification or documentation required for this item.
