29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are barrier guards, two-hand ripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a. On or about June 13, 2023, in the production area, the employer failed to guard reciprocating slides on the 35" Flexo machine, Hooper-Smith, Serial #SE2P 981F, thereby exposing employees to the hazards associated with moving parts. b. On or about June 13, 2023, in the production area, the employer failed to guard the rotating shaft (slotting knives-cutter) on the 35" Flexo machine, Hooper-Smith, Serial #SE2P 981F, thereby exposing employees to the hazards associated with rotating parts.
