29 CFR 1910.304(b)(4)(ii)(B): Where connected to a branch circuit supplying two or more receptacles or outlets, a receptacle supplied a total cord- and plug-connected load in excess of the maximum specified in Table S-4: A) In the office break room, there was a single 15-amp power strip with a toaster, hot water heater, and coffee maker plugged into it. The power strip was plugged into a 15-amp outlet in the wall connected to a 20-amp branch circuit. The total current load on the outlet and the power strip was 28.75 amps, exceeding the maximum amount of current that could safely flow through the outlet, the power strip, and the branch circuit.
