Unless identified for use in the operating environment, no conductors or equipment shall be located in damp or wet locations; where exposed to gases, fumes, vapors, liquids, or other agents that have a deteriorating effect on the conductors or equipment; or where exposed to excessive temperatures. a) On or about June 27, 2023, employees clearing jets/spray nozzles or waking through the vehicle wash tunnel are exposed to a 120-volt electrical shock hazard from deteriorating equipment to include but not limited to outlets, junction boxes and switches located in a damp/wet location. The employer did not ensure that conductors and equipment exposed to liquids and other deteriorating agents were rated for the damp/wet locations.

29 CFR 1910.303(g)(2)(i): Except as�elsewhere required�or permitted�by this�standard, live�parts of�electric equipment�operating at�50 volts�or more�shall be�guarded against�accidental contact by�use of�approved cabinets�or other�forms of�approved enclosures�or by�any of�the following�means: a) On or about June 27, 2023, employees clearing jets/spray nozzles or waking through the vehicle wash tunnel are exposed to a 120-volt electrical shock hazard from live parts of electric equipment to include but not limited to outlets, junction boxes and switches that was not guarded by the use of an approved cabinet or other form of approved enclosure. The employer did not ensure that conductors and equipment exposed to liquids and other deteriorating agents were rated for the damp/wet locations exposing live parts of electric equipment operating at 120-volts.

Sufficient access and working space shall be provided and maintained about all electric equipment to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance of such equipment. a) On or about June 27, 2023, during pre/post cleaning of vehicles under the canopy employees working the night shift are exposed to an electric shock hazard of 120-volts while using the INTERMATIC Electromechanical Timer in the electrical room. The employer did not ensure that sufficient access and working space was provided and maintained about the 120-volt INTERMATIC Electromechanical Timer for employees using it to turn on the canopy lights.
