29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): Point(s) of operation of machinery were not guarded to prevent employee(s) from having any part of their body in the danger zone(s) during operating cycle(s). Location: Ewald model 950-105 chop cut machine, serial number 92021. On or about June 29, 2023, employees were exposed to amputation hazards while operating an Ewald chop cut machine that was not adequately guarded at the point of operation, resulting in an employee suffering the amputation of a fingertip. Continental Cable, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1553003, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on February 28, 2022, with respect to a workplace located at 253 Monument Rd. in Hinsdale, NH 03451.
