29 CFR 1926.20(b)(1):It shall be the responsibility of the employer to initiate and maintain such programs as may be necessary to comply with this part. a. Located at 2305 North Wilson Road Columbus, Ohio 43228: On or about July 10, 2023, the employer did not initiate and maintain a safety and health program to ensure the employees were aware of hazards and how to correct those hazards. The 9 employees were removing roofing shingles on an on a 4.7-pitch roof of the four-story hotel without the proper fall protection systems in place. The employees were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 36 feet 10 inches from the roof edge to the ground below.

Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a. Located at 2305 North Wilson Road Columbus, Ohio 43228: On or about July 10, 2023, the employer failed to ensure the employees were protected from falling when removing shingles on a re-roofing job for a four-story hotel building. The employees were exposed to a fall of approximately 36 feet 10 inches from the roofs edge to the ground below.
