Drift Hotel Palm Springs: On or before July 11, 2023, housekeeping employees conducted bedding changes, room cleaning, and trash removal from occupied rooms which potentially exposed employees to bloodborne pathogens. The employer did not ensure that a written exposure control plan was in place to eliminate and/or reduce housekeeping employees' exposure from contaminated linens and items. Employees were potentially exposed to bloodborne pathogens.

The employer had not made available the Hepatitis B vaccine to all employees within 10 days of initial assignment. Employees were potentially exposed to bloodborne pathogens.

29 CFR  1910.1200(e)(1): Employer had not developed or implemented a written hazard communication program included the requirements outlined in 29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1)(i) and (e)(1)(ii).  Drift Hotel Palm Spring: On or before July 11, 2023, employees conducted cleaning and disinfecting tasks with WAXIE sanitary supplies in multiple areas of the facility. Employer did not ensure that a written hazard communication program was developed and/or maintained regarding the hazardous chemicals used which potentially exposed employees to eye and skin eye redness, itchiness, blurred vision, and/or abrasion to the cornea and skin.

29 CFR  1910.1200(f)(10): The employer did not ensure that workplace labels or other forms of warnings were legible, in English and prominently displaced on the container or readily available in the work area throughout each work shift.  Drift Hotel: On or before July 11, 2023, employees conducted maintenance and kitchen tasks with cleaning and disinfecting chemicals at this facility. Employer had the following:  a) Pool Area: Acid and Chlorine containers did not contain a label containing health and safety warnings were affixed.  b) Kitchen Area: Waxie disinfecting and wood cleaning containers did not contain a secondary label containing health and safety warnings were affixed.   Employees were exposed to eye redness, blurred vision, and/or abrasion to the cornea.
