29 CFR 1910.334(a)(2)(i): Portable cord and plug connected equipment and flexible cord sets (extension cords) were not visually inspected before use on any shift for external defects (such as loose parts, deformed and missing pins, or damage to outer jacket or insulation) and for evidence of possible internal damage (such as pinched or crushed outer jacket): The employer was failing to ensure employees were protected from electrical shock and burn hazards. An extension cord used to provide power to a freezer unit was unable to be inspected for signs of external defects and signs of internal damage. This was most recently observed at 210 S 16th Street, Suite 115, Omaha, Nebraska on August 3, 2023.

29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv):Extension cords and/or power strips were being used in lieu of permanent building wiring. The employer was failing to ensure that all employees are not exposed to electrical shock and burn hazards. This was most recently documented on August 3, 2023 at 210 S 16th Street, Suite 115, Omaha, Nebraska. The employer failed to ensure that extension cords were not used in lieu of permanent wiring. A freezer unit was plugged into an outlet, using an extension cord.
