29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Jobsite, 124 Laurel Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15906: On or about August 4, 2023, the cabinets on each block of the 9-1 wire drawing machine (Type DMCL -710/10, Number 58795, Year 2016) were equipped with windows that were not strong enough to withstand the force of impact from puller dog assemblies that remained connected to the block as it ramped toward production speeds during string-up operations. Employees operating the wire drawing machine were exposed by struck-by hazards created by the lack of effective guarding.
