Where reels or cabinets are provided to contain fire hose, the employer shall assure that they are designed to facilitate prompt use of the hose valves, the hose, and other equipment at the time of a fire or other emergency. The employer shall assure that the reels and cabinets are conspicuously identified and used only for fire equipment.  a) On or about August 16, 2023, at the US Postal Service, Cata�o DMDU Annex - Entrance to the Automated Parcel and Bundle Sorter (APBS) wheeled carts were obstructing a fire hose cabinet.  NOTE: Certification and documentation of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by CFR 1903.19(c) and (d), respectively.

29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1):  One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:   a) On or about August 15, 2023, at the US Postal Service Cata�o DMDU Annex - the Low-Cost Universal Sorter (LCUS) #3 conveyor, was found with protruding rods on all rollers. The Low-Cost Universal Sorter (LCUS) relay switch that controls the conveyor rollers was not operational, allowing the rollers to continue operating when the machines complete the task, exposing employees to caught-by hazard.           NOTE: Certification and documentation of abatement must be submitted for all the instances of this citation as required by CFR 1903.19(c) and (d), respectively.
