An employee left hand middle finger was partial amputated while using a slicer, the employee was wearing latex gloves, on or about 8/12/23.   b) 610 Brington Road, Clifton NJ: The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment 8/16/23.

29 CFR 1910.138(a): Appropriate hand protection was not used when employee's hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes.       a) Employee was not using appropriate hand protection while cutting scallion with a slicer. The employee tries to remove a piece of scallion that was stuck in the slicer machine. Employee was not using resistant cut gloves resulting in a partial amputation, on or about 8/12/23.  b) Employees were using latex gloves while cutting fish. Employees were not provided with proper hand protection to prevent severe cuts or lacerations or amputations, on or about 8/16/23.�  Employee was using latex gloves at the time of the accident.
