OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized struck-by and crushing hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees working beneath or adjacent to automotive lifts that were not being inspected prior to use.  On or about August 27, 2023 , employees engaged in automotive repair activities at the Terrill Complete Auto Care facility located at 307 East Scenic Rivers Boulevard. Salem, Missouri, were exposed to struck-by/crushing hazards related to using four (4) Rotary two (2) post automobile lifts without ever having them inspected.   FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHODS TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:   i.	Develop and implement work procedures that meet ANSI/ALI ALOIM 2020, Standard for Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for Operation, Inspection, and Maintenance requirements per Section 6. Inspections as well as the Rotary recommendations for ensuring the lifts are adequately inspected before use per Rotary Automotive Lifts Safety Tips, Item 1. ii.	Ensure employees tasked to operate/use the car lift are trained in accordance with ANSI/ALI ALOIM 2020, Standard for Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for Operation, Inspection, and Maintenance requirements as well as the Rotary recommendations. iii.	Develop, train on and implement written tools to support staff in ensuring the auto lifts are inspected as required per ANSI/ALI ALOIM 2020, Standard for Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for Operation, Inspection, and Maintenance requirements per Section 6. Inspections as well as the Rotary recommendations for ensuring the lifts are adequately inspected before use per Rotary Automotive Lift Safety Tips, Item 1.
