29 CFR  1926.651(g)(1)(ii): Adequate precautions were not taken to prevent employee exposure to atmospheres containing less than 19.5 percent oxygen and other hazardous atmospheres:  Street worksite adjacent to 21 Oldfield Road, Fairfield CT: On or about October 5, 2023, an employee working to cap a natural gas line that was being abandoned was overcome by fumes from the line and lost consciousness.  The employer did not provide any ventilation to minimize employee exposure to a hazardous atmosphere containing methane/natural gas during tasks such as (but not limited to) gas service line abandonment.
