29 CFR 1910.22(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that all places of employment, passageways, storerooms, service rooms, and walking-working surfaces are kept in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. At the establishment, all work areas and walkways/passageways/storage racks were not kept in a clean and orderly manner creating struck-by, tripping and fall hazards in the following instances (a-b): a) in the stockroom, merchandise such as but not limited to piles of boxes, wall paintings, furniture, lamps, Christmas merchandise, rugs and other materials, b) on the sales floor, cluttered with loaded carts and boxes. Kirkland's was previously cited for a Serious violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.22(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1561414, Citation Number 2, Item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on May 12, 2022, with a final abatement date on May 10, 2022, with respect to a workplace located at 300 Colonial Promenade Parkway, Alabaster, AL 35007.
