29 CFR 1910.101(b): The in-plant handling, storage, and utilization of all compressed gases in cylinders, portable tanks, rail tankcars, or motor vehicle cargo tanks were not in accordance with Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet P-1-1965, which is incorporated by reference as specified in CFR 1910.6: a) On or about October 19th, 2023, at the Federal Aviation Administration CERAP/Technical Operations, Three-Door garage, one oxygen cylinder, 22 psi (Brand Empresas de Soldadura) was not stored in a secured area to avoid them from being struck or damaged, exposing employees to fire and explosion hazards. b) On or about October 19th, 2023, at the Federal Aviation Administration CERAP/Technical Operations, Logistics Warehouse Bay #8, two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks with a capacity of 15.2 pounds each, for forklifts were not secured with chains inside the cage to avoid them from falling and getting damaged, exposing employees to explosion hazards. c) On or about October 19th, 2023, at the Federal Aviation Administration CERAP/Technical Operations, area in front of cabinet for waste batteries storage, there were 13 unserviceable fire extinguishers (CO2 and Dry Chemical) were not secured to avoid them from being struck by or damaged, exposing employees to explosion hazards. d) On or about October 19th, 2023, at the Federal Aviation Administration CERAP/Technical Operations, Logistics Warehouse Bay #4, one nitrogen cylinder, 22 psi was not stored in a secured area to avoid them from being struck or damaged, exposing, employees to fire and explosion hazards. NOTE: Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item as abatement was documented by the compliance safety and health officer during the inspection.
