29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11): Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems with toe boards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. 181 West Town Street, Norwich, Ct Solar panel Installation project: On or about October 18, 2023, and at times prior thereto, employees were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 30 feet while performing solar panel installation activities without fall protection on an 8/12 pitch roof. Steep roofs are classified as roofs with a pitch of 4/12 or greater.
