29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Packaging Corporation of America located at 929 Faultless Drive, Ashland, Ohio, 44805: On or about October 20, 2023, the employer failed to ensure that the in going nip points created between the feed roller and the label roller on the 501 Automatan labeler were adequately guarded for the double wall sheets being run. Employees performing activities such as, but not limited to, loading tasks on the machine's feed table in proximity of the inadequately guarded nip point were exposed to caught in hazards.
