Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.  a) Worksite was located at 1507 Ocean Avenue, Spring Lake, NJ 07762 - Three workers were exposed to fall hazards of approximately fifteen feet to ground while working to replace a leaking roof section on the first floor deck awning without fall protection.  Violation was observed on or about November 7, 2023.  NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

1926.503(a)(1)  The employer shall provide a training program for each employee who might be exposed to fall hazards. The program shall enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and shall train each employee in the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards.   a) Worksite was located at 1507 Ocean Avenue, Spring Lake, NJ 07762 - Three maintenance workers exposed to fall hazards had no formal training in fall protection. The workers did not have hazard recognition knowledge to prevent them from being exposed to falls.  Violation was identified on November 7, 2023.  NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
