OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to caught between and struck-by hazards associated with the use of below the hook lifting devices, magnets, and hoists.   a.) EDRO Specialty Steels, Machine shop area, on or about November 15, 2023, and times prior thereto: Periodic inspections are not performed or documented for the lifting magnets.   b.) EDRO Specialty Steels, Machine shop area, on or about November 15, 2023, and times prior thereto: Safety labels on the Earth Chain lifting magnet were not in a language understood by the employees using the magnet. The magnet was connected to the fixed J15 2-ton jib crane at the Dahlih CNC machine (serial #3001060085).  c.) EDRO Specialty Steels, Machine shop area, on or about November 15, 2023, and times prior thereto: The pendant directional labels on the fixed J15 2-ton jib crane at the Dahlih CNC machine (serial #3001060085) pendant were not legible by the crane operators. Crane remote was used to lift equipment including but not limited to plate steel for the Dahlih CNC machine.  d.) EDRO Specialty Steels, Machine shop area, on or about October 12, 2023, and times prior thereto: Employees do not stay clear of suspended loads while loading steel plates on the Dahlih CNC machine. Employees manually handle suspended loads which includes employees placing hands and/or fingers under the suspended load.   e.) EDRO Specialty Steels, Machine shop area, on or about October 12, 2023, and times prior thereto: Employees do not center the load on the lifting magnet when loading the Dahlih CNC machine.   ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation.  This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. IN ADDITION, abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic, or video evidence or abatement or other written records.
