29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3): Exit routes must be free and unobstructed. No materials or equipment may be placed, either permanently or temporarily, within the exit route. The exit access must not go through a room that can be locked, such as a bathroom, to reach an exit or exit discharge, nor may it lead into a dead-end corridor. Stairs or a ramp must be provided where the exit route is not substantially level. a) Loading Dock Area: On or about 11/28/23, a marked exit door on the southwest wall of the loading dock area, leading to the exit door from the warehouse to Service Road was blocked with boxes containing chairs, several pallets of boxes filled with paper and equipment preventing emergency egress. b) Warehouse: On or about 11/28/23, a marked exit door on the southwest wall of the building, leading to Service Road, was blocked with tables, boxes, pallets of office furniture, and equipment preventing emergency egress. c) Warehouse: On or about 11/28/23, exit access aisle space from the loading dock to the warehouse southwest exit to Service Road was blocked with boxes of paper on pallets and office furniture on pallets preventing emergency egress. d) Warehouse: On or about 11/28/23, exit access aisle along the rear wall leading to southwest exit to service road was blocked with office furniture preventing emergency egress. e) Warehouse: On or about 11/28/23, an aisle between racks A25 and A26 was blocked with boxes stacked on pallets preventing emergency egress. f) Warehouse: On or about 11/28/23, an aisle between racks A29 and A30 was blocked with boxes stacked on pallets preventing emergency egress. g) Warehouse: On or about 11/28/23, an aisle between racks A17 and A18 was blocked with medical equipment, preventing emergency egress. h) Warehouse: On or about 11/28/23, an aisle between racks A19 and A20 was blocked with equipment, preventing emergency egress. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
