29 CFR 1910.263(e)(1)(viii): Every horizontal dough mixer shall be equipped with a full enclosure over the bowl which is closed at all times while the agitator is in motion. Only minor openings in this enclosure, such as ingredient doors, flour inlets, etc., each representing less than 1 1/2 square feet in area, shall be capable of being opened while the mixer is in operation: On or about March 28, 2024, at a facility located at 4300 County Road CR in Manitowoc, WI; the Bun Mixer (Peerless Machine Corp. Model JHDHS10H, S# 201604) was equipped with a full enclosure over the bowl; however, it was not closed at all times while the agitator was in motion. Immediately after unloading dough from the mixer, the agitator continued to rotate as it wound down while the door to the mixer was still open exposing employees to struck-by or caught between hazards.
