29 CFR 1910.213(r)(4):The mention of specific machines in paragraphs (a) thru (q) and this paragraph (r) of this section, inclusive, is not intended to exclude other woodworking machines from the requirement that suitable guards and exhaust hoods be provided to reduce to a minimum the hazard due to the point of operation of such machines. a. On or about November 30, 2023, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that the single head notcher machine was properly guarded to prevent employees from being caught in the rotating cutter head while loading and unloading stinger boards. b. On or about November 30, 2023, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that employees operating and working at the Viking automated pallet nailer #8 were protected from being caught in the point of operation and/or pinch points as the carriage cycled across each pallet. c. On or about November 30, 2023, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that employees operating and working at the Viking automated pallet nailer #10 were protected from being caught in the point of operation and/or pinch points as the carriage cycled across each pallet. d. On or about November 30, 2023, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that employees operating and working at the Viking automated pallet nailer #13 were protected from being caught in the point of operation and/or pinch points as the carriage cycled across each pallet. e. On or about November 30, 2023, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that employees operating and working at the Viking automated pallet nailer #12 were protected from being caught in the point of operation and/or pinch points as the carriage cycled across each pallet. f. On or about November 30, 2023, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that employees operating and working at the Viking automated pallet nailer #11 were protected from being caught in the point of operation and/or pinch points as the carriage cycled across each pallet. g. On or about November 30, 2023, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that employees operating and working at the Viking automated pallet nailer #5 were protected from being caught in the point of operation and/or pinch points as the carriage cycled across each pallet. h. On or about November 30, 2023, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that employees operating and working at the Viking automated pallet nailer #14 were protected from being caught in the point of operation and/or pinch points as the carriage cycled across each pallet. Mt. Eaton Pallet, LTD was previously cited for a Serious violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard, 1910.213(r)(4) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1381338, citation number 1, item number 6, and was affirmed as a final order on May 23, 2019, with respect to the workplace located at 4761 County Road 207, Millersburg, Ohio 44654.
