29 CFR  1926.302(b)(6): The use of hoses for hoisting or lowering tools was permitted.   a- 8 Penelope Lane, Middletown NJ - On or about 11/09/23 workers lowered air nailers, from the pitched, partially shingled roof of a two story residential structure to the ground surface below using the air hoses they were connected to.  NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

These workers had not received training that would have allowed them to recognize hazards related to ladders and the procedures to be followed to minimize these hazards. Condition noted  on or about 11/09/23  c - 8 Penelope Lane, Middletown NJ: Workers engaged in the installation of shingles and other roofing materials  were exposed to fall hazards, in excess of 22 feet to the ground surface below, when walking on and working from a residential structure's pitched upper roof without the use of fall protection.
