29 CFR  1926.651(k)(1): Daily inspections of excavations, the adjacent areas, and protective systems were not made by a competent person for evidence of a situation that could result in possible cave-ins, indications of failure of protective systems, hazardous atmospheres, or other hazardous conditions:   a) Job site, 1009 North Boundary Road, Cranberry Township, PA: On or about December 5, 2023, during excavation work, the employer did not ensure that a proper safety inspection of the excavation operations was made in that the spoil pile was less than 2 feet from the edge of the excavation, there was no safe means of egress in an area of the excavation where it was determined to be 4 feet deep and there was visible signs of soil sloughing/cracking with no measures taken to prevent any potential safety issues as a result.
